Horton Street in the heart of the Port Macquarie shopping district and CBD. It is a prosperous town servicing a growing population and thriving district but the tourist is king.
Port Macquarie was originally established as a penal settlement by Governor Macquarie. It is one of the oldest towns in NSW. There are a number of historical sites of interest including the convict built St. Thomas' church and other bu
ildings adjacent to it.
Horton St runs from Town Green on the Hastings River to Macquarie Park at the southern end where the historic cemetery lies in front of Kooloonbung Nature Reserve. The Reserve has 3 kms of walking tracks and boardwalks.
